School Improvement Goals 2008-2009
Goal: Increase student achievement in Math in Grades K through 5
Action:
Continue Utilization of EDM Student Skills Link book to increase computation skills in grades 1-5
Calculators w/ exponents
Implement SIOP content and language objectives for math lessons
Provide math materials needed for skill groups
Implement skill grouping 30 - 45 min. M-Th
Goal: Increase student achievement in Language Arts in Grades K through 5
1.All students will use six traits writing to produce quality writing, appropriate for the student’s developmental age, as assessed by 5-point analytical writing rubrics.
Action:
Implement Primary unit for writing
Provide six trait writing support as needed
Provide ½ day sub, 3 x a yr, to allow teachers to score writing prompts
2. The number of students achieving at the 3 & 4 levels on the Utah State Language Arts test will be maintained or increased.
Action:
Use Quick Reads fluency program consistently (goal =4 x a wk) with all students in grades 2,3,4,5
Purchase Quick Reads fluency program for grade 2
Implement skill grouping 30 - 45 min. M-Th
Report to BLT regarding skills groupings progress
Provide Language arts materials needed for skill groups
Curriculum map (possible SIOP connection) in vocabulary and phonics for grades 1-5
Goal: Increase parent and community involvement to enhance student achievement
Action:
Maintain e-mail list for parent communication
Create a parent information bulletin board in Spanish & English
Create a parent resource book
Update school web site
Institute a “Monday” folder program
Create a school accountability report
Goal: Increase teacher knowledge of Instructional strategies proven to advance student achievement

Continue vertical teacher teams to study The SIOP Model
Provide subs and training to allow for cognitive peer coaching once each trimester
Provide intervention aide to assist with skill grouping in math/reading
Incorporate technology Standards into core units
