Language Arts
Welcome to Mrs. Corvaia’s class
I am very excited for the year ahead! What great students we have in our class! This year we will all listen, observe, engage, solve problems, share feelings and express our selves!
Contacting Me
The best way to touch base with me is through email. My address is ecorvaia@pcschools.us. Otherwise, you can call JRES at (435) 645-5670, and you will be forwarded to my voicemail where you can leave a message.
School Time
Students may enter through the outside door at 8:10. Prior to that they may play on the playground. The first two weeks of school I will meet them outside and we will walk up together. Dismissal is at 11:15 on Monday through Thursday, and 10:15 on Fridays. If you have not already let me know how your child gets home or where they go after school please be sure to do that. (car pick-up, bus, camp hawk, extended day kindergarten)
Visiting School
Adults may enter school through the front doors and sign in at the front office. If you need to take your child out of school early for any reason, please sign your child out at the office before you leave.
Toys, Stuffed Animals etc.
PLEASE keep all toys at home! These items prove to be a distraction in school and are best left at home. Although, their will be times when your students are asked to bring in things that are related to our lessons.
Backpacks
You will find that a backpack is often unnecessary for your child with the EXEPTION of Monday and Friday. On Mondays they will have a folder sent home with important papers for mom and dad, as well as some occasional homework/books to read. Fridays they will bring work home from the classroom. If your child wants to bring a backpack everyday it is not a problem, but it will usually travel empty.
Sick Children
Please be sure to keep all sick children home! Illness travels very fast in a Kindergarten room. If your child becomes sick at school you will be contacted to pick up your child.
Special Needs
Please inform me ASAP if your child has any special medical conditions or allergies.
Snacks
The students will eat a group snack during their recess time. Due to several allergies we know of in both Kindergarten classrooms we have decided it is best to ask for donations and we will be purchasing snacks. PLEASE DONATE and send 5 to 10 dollars in with your students so we are able to start a snack fund. Thank you!!!
Birthdays
I understand birthdays are a very exciting time! Our school policies have changed a bit and we will be vastly reducing sugar allowed in our school. Sorry for any disappointments but their will be ZERO cookies, cupcakes, OR any type of sugar treats allowed for birthday celebrations. Some healthy options are goldfish crackers (or any type of cracker), applesauce cups, fruit cups dried fruit, pretzels, popcorn, tortilla chips, etc. PLEASE also remember nothing is allowed to be prepared at home, everything must be store bought. This is a state law!
Homework
There will be a limited amount of homework sent home for kindergarteners. They will eventually be taking home books to read with mom and dad. They will also need to complete some math worksheets. This work will come home on Mondays and will be due back the following Friday.
Behavior Expectations
I expect our classroom to be a “peaceful” classroom. Our rules are simple and consist of the following. Please review these rules with your child so they know YOU are aware of them!
*Use a quiet and peaceful voice while in the classroom
*Have a calm and peaceful body. Hands and feet are always kept to yourself.
*Be KIND to others
*Be responsible with classroom materials
*Be a good sport and a positive thinker
If anyone has any further questions or concerns please contact me and I will be happy to address them!
