Hello, I’m the full-time guidance counselor at our school. My undergraduate degree is in Psychology (University of Michigan) and I also have a Master’s Degree in School Counseling (The George Washington University) and a Doctorate in Teaching and Learning (University of Utah). I have worked in private schools, public schools, and I have been a counselor and administrator at the K-12 level.
My job description at JRES is very diverse:
-I teach a preventative guidance curriculum called “Healthy Lifestyles” in grades K-5 during specialist time. I am using a Social-Emotional Learning curriculum called Second Steps that the district purchased for every elementary school. Please see the attached letter for your child’s grade level for more information and to login to the website.
-I work on our Response to Intervention (RTI) committee for struggling students and work with 504 and Health Plans
-I counsel and support children with emotional or behavioral needs individually or in small pull-out groups
-I support parents and teachers with short-term issues
-I plan school-wide events to address the social and emotional needs of the students
-I supervise 5th grade “Spirit Kids”, a volunteer group who will perform service for the school and mentor other students in our Peer Mediation program.
I will assist the students and families in our area in any way possible. I will help welcome new students and make sure they are comfortable and adjusting well. It’s an exciting challenge to make sure all the students are mindful, safe, productive, love learning, making friends and progress towards their goals!
Please let me know if I can help you in any way. Email is the best way to reach me, and my office phone is: (435) 645-5671.
I look forward to working with you and your kids!
